Galactica, for me, was much the same experience as LOST.
Both started as tightly-written shows with a large cast of characters, deriving their drama as much from the characters’ interrelated histories and motivations as from the Point A to Point B of the plot. Both peaked in their second season (the seasons I most recommend owning/watching repeatedly).
